Something a Little Different — Jacksonville Right Whale Festival
If you’re looking for something a little different and happen to be in the Jacksonville, FL area on November 23rd, you might want to check out the 5th Annual Right Whale Festival. Every winter, pregnant, female, Northern Right Whales (one of the most endangered species of whales) migrate from the Bay of Fundy in Canada to the waters around northern Florida to give birth. They rarely swim more than a few miles from shore, so for the fortunate residents and visitors to northern Florida, whale watching can actually be done from the beach (for more information, check out this article on the migration).
To welcome the whales back to their calving grounds, Jacksonville Beach, on the Atlantic coast of Florida, holds a family-friendly festival at the end of each November. This year it will be on November 23. If you happen to be in the area, check it out.
